Former “The Office” star John Krasinski is People magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” for 2024.
The actor, writer and director was revealed as this year’s honoree on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” replacing last year’s winner, Patrick Dempsey. Krasinski joked that his wife, Emily Blunt, promised to use the magazine cover as wallpaper in their home and downplayed what being “sexy” really means.
“I think it’s going to make me do more household chores,” the father of two told the magazine.
Krasinski first rose to fame as Jim Halpert on “The Office” before becoming a muscular leading man in the Amazon action series “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” and co-writing, directing and starring in “A Quiet Place.” His acting credits also include playing a version of the Fantastic Four’s Reed Richards in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” and movies like “IF,” “The Muppets,” “It’s Complicated,” “The Holiday” and “License to Wed.”
Other people featured in this year’s “Sexiest Man Alive” issue include musician Benny Blanco, who is currently dating Selena Gomez, and “New Girl” stars Jake Johnson, Lamorne Morris, Max Greenfield and Damon Wayans, Jr. Greenfield, Johnson and Morris played fictional Syracuse University alumni on the hit series, which ran for seven seasons and featured major guest stars like Prince and Taylor Swift.
A real Syracuse University alumnus, Taye Diggs, received fan votes as the second-sexiest Fiyero after current “Wicked” star Jonathan Bailey. Diggs briefly played the Fiyero character on Broadway from December 2003 to January 2004, when he was married to original Elphaba actress Idina Menzel. Bailey stars in the new movie adaptation, based on Chittenango native L. Frank Baum’s “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,” in theaters Nov. 22.
Syracuse native Post Malone received a similar shout out in the sexy tattoos category of the People readers’ choice poll. The Grammy-nominated singer and rapper, who was born Austin Post in Syracuse and lived in Baldwinsville until he was 10, ranked as a runner-up to “The Bear” hunk Jeremy Allen White.
